The Effective PDA

More and more association executives and managers are using personal data assistants (PDA) as a tool to improve their performance.

Some tips to enhance the use of a PDA for performance improvement include:
* Load the contact information for your full membership onto the PDA, and synchronize occasionally to keep it current (I have 5000+ records on my PDA).
* Synchronize the PDA with Outlook on your desktop, and you can work with your calendar, e-mail, tasks, and contacts on either the PDA or the desktop.
* Record your expenses when traveling using an expense form on your PDA, and dump it out to the desktop when you get back to the office.
* Use a PDA keyboard attachment to take notes while traveling or at meetings.
* Use the reminder function to ensure that you do not miss important calls, meetings, etc., or as a backup to a hotel wakeup call.

If you have other ways that you are using your PDA to improve performance, let us know.

Technology has a significant role in the work of association staff. The Technology Tips focus on how  individuals can manage using technology rather than being managed by technology.
