BETTER
PRACTICES
Consultant
and Vendor Agreements
If a consultant or other vendor has access to confidential organization, or if they are creating something for the organization (designs, photos, content, etc.), then it is a good idea to execute a couple of agreements to ensure the organization's interests are protected.
In addition, most organizations should have privacy agreements for any consultant, vendor or partner that has access to members' personal information.
There may be other agreements that would be applicable for your organization, or with particular suppliers, partners or projects. Consult legal counsel to determine if you have all the necessary agreements in place to protect the organization and its assets.

The practices described in this area
are described as Better Practices for a
very good reason. We have a great deal of difficulty
with the term best practices used in any other
context than to refer to the results of benchmarking
exercises involving real and relevant organizations with
tangible results. We offer Better Practices
related to areas where we feel that change is needed in
associations. Better Practices are
intended to provoke thought, and to encourage
organizations to think about what they are doing and how
they are doing it.
