Getting Members to Check Out Your Site

Rather than the usual run-of-the-mill contests and discounts offered to get members to check out the new/revamped/existing website, check out this innovative approach by one association:

We hold an annual "Web Rally" where members are led through our top 8 or so pages (a graphic on each page links to the next page in the Rally).

Each page's graphic plays off a car race theme, with a little guy waving a checkered flag and so on ("you're almost there, keep going!!").

At the end, member submit their name and email address to be entered into the drawing for prizes.

The association supplies a grand prize (e.g. $500 to spend at the online store), and affinity partners supply other prizes ranging in value - plus they get their logos on the last page and a thank you in the association's magazine.

The results for the association -- members get a good sense of the value available throughout the site, plus the association collects additional member e-mail addresses.
