REALITY CHECK

Do Members Receive Your E-mail?

For the January 2004 issue of this e-zine, we included an item that focused on the value of offering association members a money back guarantee.  As usual, we included a reference to a subscription being free (in that particular issue we used the words "No Charge Subscription).

The reality check for AXI was a subsequent Spam test we performed via a web service.  A score of 5 or more indicates that the e-mail will be treated as spam.  The e-mailed front page of the e-zine in question scored 7.0.

What was most surprising was that the above 2 items accounted for 5.3 of that score, with the money-back guarantee story accounting for 4.3 of that total.  In effect, using those words guaranteed the e-mail to be considered spam!
